The Sacred Practice of Closing the Bones
Closing the bones is an ancient sacred practice often performed in Moroccan and Mexican culture during the 4th trimester (postpartum period). It is traditionally believed that mothers retrieve their child's soul during birth and this ceremony returns the mother spirit to her. Many women find that when they have given birth they feel ‘broken open’. The body, mind and spirit open and let go from a deep place to bring a new soul into the world. This ceremony creates a space to adjust and rebirth into this new transition period and energetically return into alignment. It provides a space for the mother to be mothered, to be honored and reminder of her sacred essence and celebrate her journey into motherhood. This process energetically brings warmth and healing into the mother that translates to loving the mother.
This practice is used to provide a sense of coming home to the new mother. However, this practice can signify celestial alignment and a coming home to those who are in need of overcoming the grief of what was and ready to surrender to a rebirth.

Benefits & Perfect Timing
This sacred ceremony can be used for those experiencing a rebirth, especially anytime during postpartum (even 30 years later!), after a miscarriage, abortion, hysterectomy and recovering from a traumatic event. This ancient practice has physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits for all participants.
Due to the hips being a storage unit for unresolved emotions and trauma regardless of gender this practice releases the stored energy and releases the defense mechanism/ stress of the vagal nerve. When these energies remain stagnant it can create dis-ease within the body. This can be felt as body aches, depressive emotions, inability to orgasm or create, and increase risk of postpartum depression.
Furthermore, closing of the bones guides your bones back into place, assist in organ shifts, uterus shrinking, and stimulates blood flow for healing. Throughout pregnancy your hips become wider to accommodate the baby and during labor. When your hips are unable to return to a new normal width this can cause pelvic instability that can show up as pain in lower back, hips, buttocks or achy feeling's when walking.

The area of ceremony is cleansed and blessed as we open the circle for the sacred exchange. Once the environment is set up, we have a heart to heart identifying your intentions for the ceremony. Followed by a guided meditation to revisit the door we are closing.
Next, we do a 20 minute yoni (vagina) steam bath. This steam bath provides a lot of healing aliments to the vagina in addition to stimulating healing and warmth into the body revitalizing your yoni. During this time you will be able to reflect on anything that may arise.
Directly following the yoni steam, you are placed in a bath with warming herbs and bathed after settling in.
The bath is a modification of traditional Mexican Temazcal or what is known as a ‘Sweat Lodge’ by the Northern Native Peoples.
The Temazcal represents the womb: where you are warm, protected, and nourished, and when you leave the womb you are born – or in this case, reborn. This often feels like you are reverting back into a baby & provides a sense of softening you never knew you needed.
Sacred Touch
Next, you will receive reiki in the form of a full body massage, rebozo hip massage, & womb massage. This sacred touch has the intent of providing energetic clearing and blessing as you become swaddled during the closing bones process.
Ceremonial Closing
Lastly, we will conclude by engaging in automatic journaling, enjoying herbal tea and light snacks, followed by a conversation to reflect on and discuss your experience. Then you will be sent to bed or a nap as I clean and close out the sacred circle.
